SPECIALIZING IN GRIEF, TRAUMA, AND CHRONIC PAIN THERAPY

DR. SARA HERTZEL (She/Her)

WELCOME TO MY PRACTICE
I approach therapy with the understanding that many of our symptoms and struggles are normal human attempts to manage pain, loss, anxiety, and difficult, overwhelming, or traumatic experiences. My style is authentic, compassionate, collaborative, and goal-oriented. By collaborating together, we will address therapy goals using interventions that are both effective and tailored to your personal history, identity and values. Our work together will focus on identifying stuck points, learning and applying strategies that work to get unstuck, and ultimately (re)claiming a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling to you.
This approach, based heavily on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), is in the service of transforming your relationship with symptoms and struggles so you feel able to intentionally and flexibly respond to your world in ways that feel aligned with who you want to be. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), an effective modality for alleviating distress from PTSD and traumatic memories.
I believe that therapy is most effective when you commit to tangible behavior changes in addition to exploring the concerns bringing you to therapy via talk therapy. I strive to provide a safe inclusive space for us to talk openly and authentically so you feel supported as you make meaningful life changes.

As a PsyPact participating provider, I am able to see clients in any of the 40 PsyPact participating states virtually on a secure, HIPAA-complaint video conferencing platform.
